Dear Friends in Christ: Sunday: One service at 9:00. In the gospel lesson for this Sunday from Mark, Jesus speaks of whom is his real family – his real brothers and sisters are those who do the will of God! Come and hear God’s Word and be fed by Jesus in bread and wine. Adult Forum: On break until September. Reading for this Sunday: Please read 1 Corinthians chapter 4 plus the sidebar notes in your Lutheran Study Bible (LSB.) Here the apostle Paul (apostle means a witness of the resurrected Jesus) is writing to the church in Corinth, trying to convince them that he and Timothy represent the true gospel – they are the real thing. Other “super apostles” seem to have been imparting false teachings to the faithful at Corinth. They seem to be arrogant and condescending. Paul and Timothy, on the other hand, are like “clay jars,” that is, they are human, vulnerable, and suffer for the sake of Jesus, and do not condescend to the Corinthians. If you don’t yet have a LSB, see Pastor Mark.
Worship Schedule: Our Summer worship schedule is in effect. We have a service of Holy Communion at 9:00 a.m.
Reading for Next Week: Please read 2 Corinthians chapter 4 plus the sidebar notes for this chapter in your Lutheran Study Bible (LSB.) This is a wonderful chapter from the apostle Paul. The saying “we walk by faith, not by sight” is in verse 7. Later Paul talks about be ambassadors for Christ, reconciling the world to God. If you don’t yet have a LSB, see Pastor Mark.
Attendance: On June 3, 2018, 92 attended worship. On June 6, 2018, 10 attended the service at Lexington.

Youth Director’s Days Off & Office Hours: Our Youth Director is Tracy Katschke and her days off are Friday and Saturday. She does not check church voice mail or emails on those days. A Big Thank You to Grace Trumbull’s Girl Scout Troop for planting a beautiful Peony bush by the pergola near the Labyrinth and for scattering wild flower seeds that were donated in memory of Elly Taheny.
Simply Giving: Many of our members and friends give by Simply Giving automated debit. This program is very important for our congregation. It keeps income steady during the summer months when giving drops because people are out of town. Please consider it! If you do participate in Simply Giving, when you worship please grab a Giving Acknowledgment Card from an usher in order to physically fulfill the act of giving during the offertory. There are giving forms on the table in the narthex. Also, if you do not have an offering on a particular Sunday you can still participate in the act of giving during the service by placing the card in the offering plate to acknowledge your support of our ministries at Peace.
Prayer Requests: We pray for those who need healing and wholeness: for Mike Wilms, Wes Willard, Amy Falco, Justin Morgenthaler; Kathy Zak, Kristen Jorgensen, Robbie Purcell, Jeanelle Holmes, Tod Kunschke, Brian Bounds, Peggy Schmidt, Joyce Smith, Reita Schultz, Charlie Lindsey, Dolly Hansen, Theresa Sacamono, Steve Jorwic, and Lisetta Moore. We pray for those who are mourning, especially the family of Dorothy Dahlke, grandmother of Ben Dahlke, who passed away last week. Our practice is we will pray for an individual for at least 4 Sundays or until the end of the following month. After that time, we ask that you contact the office or Pastor Mark to keep your loved one on the prayer list. If your loved one inadvertently falls off the prayer list, please request to put this person back on the list. Thank you. We need pray-ers! If you would like to be a participant in the Circle of Prayer, please contact Terry Koncel at email@example.com.
Inspirational Messages: Pastor Mark would like to reach out to the congregation with a brief message a couple times per week.
