Dear Friends in Christ
This Sunday: This week we consider John, chapter 3. What does John mean by saying Jesus must be lifted up? What does being “lifted up” entail? Why did God need Jesus to be “lifted up?” We will unpack these questions this Sunday. Come and hear the word and receive Jesus in bread and wine! Adult Forum: Please join us this Sunday as we continue a video series on the Lord’s Prayer. Please read John chapter 3 plus the sidebar notes for this chapter in your Lutheran Study Bible (LSB). This chapter begins with Jesus teaching Nicodemus about baptism - being “born from above” - being “born of water and spirit.” Our passage for next Sunday includes the famous verse 16: “For God so loved the world that he sent his only Son . . .” If you don’t yet have a LSB, see Pastor Mark.
Daylight Savings - Spring Forward: Remember to set your clocks 1 hour forward on March 11, 2018.
Worship Schedule: Our worship schedule is the service of Holy Communion at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Soup Suppers and Lenten Services continue this Wednesday, March 14 at 6:15. Please consider coming before 6:15 to help set up. We will be worshiping at 7:00 p.m. We will be watching a short video segment each week from the video “Making Sense of the Cross.” Have you ever wondered why Jesus had to suffer on a cross? David Lose is a dynamic presenter for this video series. Watch for sign-up sheets. The last service is on Mar 21.
Reading for Next Week: Please read John chapter 12 plus the sidebar notes for this chapter in your Lutheran Study Bible (LSB). This chapter shares John’s tradition about Jesus that foreshadow his crucifixion. Jesus “hour” is the time he is crucified, risen, and ascended, all in one. If you don’t yet have a LSB, see Pastor Mark.

Simply Giving: Many of our members and friends give by Simply Giving automated debit. This program is very important for our congregation. It keeps income steady during the summer months when giving drops because of people being out of town. Please consider it! If you do participate in Simply Giving, when you worship please grab a Giving Acknowledgment Card from an usher in order to physically fulfill the act of giving during the offertory. There are forms on the table in the narthex. If you participate in the Simply Giving program or if you do not have an offering on a particular Sunday you can still participate in the act of giving during the service. Ask an usher for a small laminated Giving Acknowledgment Card before you enter the sanctuary. You can then place the card in the offering plate to acknowledge your support of our ministries at Peace.
