Youth Mission Trip ~ July 22-30, Lexington, SC
The youth group from Peace Lutheran joined the youth group from Christ Lutheran in Palatine for a mission trip to Lexington, SC. The trip was, in one word, AMAZING! While we were in Lexington, we had a chance to paint houses and assisted living facilities, install drywall, insulation and flooring, as well as build/repair decks. As we worked, we connected with the residents that we were serving, each other and, best of all, God! Our trip wasn't all work - we did find some time for play. We spent some evenings fooling around and getting ice cream, cooling off at the beach and brushing up on our history at the state capital. The best part of the trip was that although we left as two different churches, we returned as one family! Check out the photo gallery on the right.
Vacation Bible School ~ July 31 - Aug. 4
We had a very successful week at VBS, learning and growing together. A big thanks to everyone who helped to make it a success. We had volunteers from Peace who helped make the scenes together with members of three other churches. We are grateful for the crew that transported the decorations and then transformed the church into the Fun Factory.
There were 51 children ages 3 years - 5th grade, including guests from outside our congregation. We took a field trip to visit our friends at Silverado who provided games and goodie bags for the kids. The children sang their VBS songs and got some of the residents to join in song and dance.
Finally, we are thankful for those who came out after the long week to put the sanctuary back together for service on Sunday. It was truly a team effort, led by Natalie Trumbell and Tracy McClure.
Confirmation Sunday ~ Sunday, June 11
