Pastor Daniel Morris
GREETING
The God of healing, hope, and wholeness be with you all.
And also with you.
The Son of righteousness fill you with hope and peace.
May it be the same for our neighbors and friends.
The Spirit of holiness and resurrection stir within you.
May the wind that brought forth creation from chaos continue to do so.

Pastor Daniel Morris
PRAYER
Holy God of all creation, every breeze, tide, and tectonic shift is known to you. All times and places are held within your infinite expanse of grace. Guide us in your mercy to perceive our place of rest in your faithfulness, which you have revealed to all through Jesus Christ, your Son and our Lord. To him, with you and the Holy Spirit, be all honor and glory, now and forever.
Amen.

Our reading is read by Deacon Tracy Katschke.
READING: Luke 15:1-3, 11b-32
1Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming near to listen to him. 2And the Pharisees and the scribes were grumbling and saying, "This fellow welcomes sinners and eats with them."
3So he told them this parable: 11Then Jesus said, "There was a man who had two sons. 12The younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give me the share of the property that will belong to me.' So he divided his property between them. 13A few days later the younger son gathered all he had and traveled to a distant country, and there he squandered his property in dissolute living. 14When he had spent everything, a severe famine took place throughout that country, and he began to be in need. 15So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed the pigs. 16He would gladly have filled himself with the pods that the pigs were eating; and no one gave him anything. 17But when he came to himself he said, 'How many of my father's hired hands have bread enough and to spare, but here I am dying of hunger! 18I will get up and go to my father, and I will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; 19I am no longer worthy to be called your son; treat me like one of your hired hands." ' 20So he set off and went to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion; he ran and put his arms around him and kissed him. 21Then the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.' 22But the father said to his slaves, 'Quickly, bring out a robe — the best one — and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23And get the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate; 24for this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found!' And they began to celebrate. 25Now his elder son was in the field; and when he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing. 26He called one of the slaves and asked what was going on. 27He replied, 'Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fatted calf, because he has got him back safe and sound.' 28Then he became angry and refused to go in. His father came out and began to plead with him. 29But he answered his father, 'Listen! For all these years I have been working like a slave for you, and I have never disobeyed your command; yet you have never given me even a young goat so that I might celebrate with my friends. 30But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fatted calf for him!' 31Then the father said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. 32But we had to celebrate and rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and has come to life; he was lost and has been found.'"

Jeff Horvath will lead the assembly in our reflecting song.

LITANY FOR REFLECTION AND HEALING
Psalm 103
1Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me, bless God’s holy name.
2Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all God’s benefits?
3who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases;
4who redeems your life from the grave
and crowns you with steadfast love and mercy;
5who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like an eagle’s.
6O Lord, you provide vindication
and justice for all who are oppressed.
7You made known your ways to Moses
and your works to the children of Israel.
8Lord, you are full of compassion and mercy,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love;
9you will not always accuse us,
nor will you keep your anger forever.
10You have not dealt with us according to our sins,
nor repaid us according to our iniquities.
11For as the heavens are high above the earth,
so great is your steadfast love for those who fear you.
12As far as the east is from the west,
so far have you removed our transgressions from us.
13As a father has compassion for his children,
so you have compassion for those who fear you, O Lord.
14For you know well how we are formed;
you remember that we are but dust.
15As for mortals, their days are like the grass;
they flourish like a flower of the field;
16when the wind passes over it, it is gone,
and its place shall know it no more.
17But your steadfast love, O Lord, is forever with those who fear you,
and your righteousness is for the children’s children;
18for those who keep your covenant
and remember to do your commandments.
19The Lord’s throne is established in heaven;
God’s dominion rules over all.
20Bless the Lord, you angels, you mighty ones who do God’s bidding,
who obey the voice of God’s word.
21Bless the Lord, all you hosts of God,
you servants who do God’s will.
22Bless the Lord, all you works of God, in all places where God rules;
bless the Lord, O my soul.

SILENCE FOR REFLECTION

We are now entering a time of silence. This time will get a little longer each week as we journey to the cross. For some of us, this stillness is welcome and invited. For others, the quiet is disruptive or unsettling. There is no one right way to do this. As your thoughts come, ask God to hold them for you. While we are here together, there is nowhere else you need to be. Consider the pioneer of our faith, Jesus, sitting with you in silence. Settle into the rest of this time and allow it to settle into you.

The time of silence begins and ends by sounding a tone.

HEALING
INTRODUCTION
Our Lord Jesus healed many as a sign of the reign of God come near and sent the disciples to continue this work of healing—with prayer, the laying on of hands, and anointing. In the name of Christ, the great healer and reconciler of the world, we now entrust to God all who are in need of healing.

Pastor Daniel Morris
LAYING ON OF HANDS
The presiding minister may address the assembly in these or similar words.
Sisters and brothers, I invite you to receive a sign of healing and wholeness in the name of the triune God.
If you are the sole member of your household, you may dip your finger in olive oil and trace the cross on your forehead. Pray the following prayers of blessing.
OPTION A: In the name of our Savior
In the name of the Savior Jesus Christ,
God strengthen me and fill me with grace,
that I may know the healing power of the Spirit.

OPTION B: I receive this oil

OPTION C: Father in heaven
Father in heaven, for jesus’s sake,
Send your Holy Spirit on me;
Drive away all sickness of body and spirit;
Make whole that which is broken;
Deliver me from the power of evil;
And preserve me in true faith,
To share in the power of Christ’s resurrection
And to serve you with all your saints now and evermore.

If you are in a household with others, you may dip your finger in olive oil and trace the sign of the cross on the foreheads of the members of your household. Lay both hands on the head of the anointed and pray/speak one of the blessings below. The anointed may respond, “Amen” which means, “Yes, Lord, do this.”
OPTION A: In the name of our Savior
 Name , in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ,
be strengthened and filled with God’s grace,
that you may know the healing power of the Spirit.
Amen.

make whole that which is broken;

to share in the power of Christ’s resurrection
and to serve you with all the saints now and evermore.
Response: Amen.

After all have returned to their places, the assembly stands, and the presiding minister continues.
Let us pray.
Living God, through the laying on of hands [and anointing],
grant comfort in suffering to all who are in need of healing.
When they are afraid, give them courage;
when afflicted, give them patience;
when dejected, give them hope;
and when alone, assure them of the support of your holy people.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Deacon Tracy Katschke leads the assembly in prayer
PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION

Let us pray.

Loving God, our source and our final home, we give you thanks for the gifts of life on earth, for our human bodies and all you have created. In your great mercy,
hear us, O God.

Merciful God, by the wounds of your Son we are healed. Bring your saving health to all people.
In your great mercy,
hear us, O God.

Holy God, your Spirit came upon us in the waters of baptism and brought us into the communion of saints. Renew in us the grace of baptism, by which we share in Christ’s death and resurrection.
In your great mercy,
hear us, O God.

Mighty God,
your Son Jesus brought healing and wholeness to all. Bring your healing presence now to all who are sick or in pain. Grant hope to all who are discouraged or in despair.
In your great mercy,
hear us, O God.

Compassionate God, the strength of those who suffer, bring hope and peace to all who are in mental, physical, or spiritual distress.
In your great mercy,
hear us, O God.

Almighty God, source of human knowledge, give skill, wisdom, and compassion to all who provide medical care.
In your great mercy,
hear us, O God.

Loving God, our creator and redeemer, give gentleness and courage to family members, friends,
and caregivers of those who suffer.
In your great mercy,
hear us, O God.

God of great and abundant mercy, with your presence sustain all for whom we pray. Drive away their suffering, give them firm hope, and strengthen their trust in you; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Lord, remember us in your kingdom and teach us to pray.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Allison Hearst and Terry Koncel will lead the assembly in our reflecting song.
CLOSING SONG   “O Christ, the Healer, We Have Come”

1 O Christ, the healer, we have come to pray for health, to plead for friends.
   How can we fail to be restored when reached by love that never ends?

2 From ev’ry ailment flesh endures our bodies clamor to be freed;
   yet in our hearts we would confess that wholeness is our deepest need.

3 In conflicts that destroy our health we recognize the world’s disease;
our common life declares our ills. Is there no cure, O Christ, for these?

4 Grant that we all, made one in faith, in your community may find
   the wholeness that, enriching us, hall reach the whole of humankind.

Pastor Daniel Morris sends the assembly forth in peace.
