CARES & CONCERNS
We pray for one another: We pray for those who need healing, safety and God’s watchful care. This week we pray for Mike Wilms, Kim Wilkinson, Kyle, Jeff Peterson, Maria Lopez, Sara Stroud, Kathryn Roberts, Greg, Nancy, Karen, Mary Faith, Stefanie Byk, and Don Brown.
Would you or someone you know like to be added to our weekly prayer list? Email your prayer request to Allison at email@example.com. Are you available to provide meals, lawn mowing or transportation to MD appointments? Reach out to Caring Tree Coordinator Judy at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Wednesday Weeders (a women’s group) meets Wednesdays -- weather permitting -- from 6-7 pm at church to remove weeds and water plants, primarily in the back lawn and labyrinth. BYO weeding tools, kneeling pad, and drink. We hope you'll stay for fellowship at the fire pit from 7-8 pm. Call Beth Piff if you have questions. Thank you for joining us!
FAITH FORMATION UPDATES
Summer Hymn Request: Do you have a favorite hymn that you would like to hear this Summer? Click this link Summer Hymn Request and fill out a quick questionnaire and we will do our best to play your favorite hymn as a prelude or postlude at worship. Just to be clear, this is not a guarantee that we will play the hymn but we will certainly make our best effort! If you or someone you know would like to make a request but aren't comfortable using the link, then no problem. Call the church office and leave a message and we will put your request in for you. We can't wait to hear about your favorite hymns!
VBS - Save the week of August 2-6 for Vacation Bible School as we travel along the “River of Life” to learn about God’s gracious gift of water. There will be games, crafts, music, snacks and story time. We need campers, youth helpers and adult volunteers to make VBS happen. Please contact Natalie (Natalie1234@att.net) or Liz (Lhopman@comcast.net) if you are interested. The registration form has been emailed to families.
Adult Forum: We are on break until Rally Day.
Women’s Bible Study: We are reading “From Widows to Warriors” by Lynn Japinga. In this book we will hear about over 40 women from the Old Testament, both the saints and the bad girls. We will dive into what each woman’s story means for us today with questions for reflection and discussion. We will meet on Tuesday mornings at 9am at church. We are praying for nice weather so that we can meet outside but if the weather does not cooperate, we will meet inside in the narthex. You can bring your own lawn chair or use a chair from the church. If you have any questions, contact Carol Wojnarowski.
High School At-Home Mission Trip: Our 2021 at-home mission trip is quickly approaching and will be held during the week of July 19th-23rd! Tracy is currently working on the mission trip schedule for our teens and this will be emailed to mission trip families by Monday, June 28th. HOWEVER, CHAPERONES ARE REALLY, REALLY NEEDED! Adults are welcome to chaperone for an entire day (i.e. Monday’s project day at church) or for a specific event (mini golf or bonfire night). OR, you can even host a barbeque at your home or the church! Of course, adult chaperone volunteers are welcome to assist for more than one day. Responsibilities include: assisting/supervising teens during service projects, helping with lunch devotions, driving to work projects/events, laughing a lot and having fun! If you are interested in chaperoning, please let Tracy know ASAP!
Community Garden Help Needed!: The Peace community garden is thriving and looks beautiful! However, our teens need some help with tending the garden: watering, weeding and harvesting (when the plants are ready). Please let either Tracy or Grace Trumbull know if you are interested and available to help!
Feed My Starving Children Event: A big thank you to those who attended our Feed My Starving Children Event on the 17th. Our session was able to pack over 19,000 meals which will feed 52 children for a year!! Our next event will be on November 13 from 9-11 at the Libertyville packing site. We have 20 spots reserved so if you are interested, please contact Sue Koenig as soon as possible to save a spot for you/and or your family! Participants must be at least 5 yrs old to attend and should have an adult with them if they are a young child. This is a great way to get some service hours if you need them!
School Supplies Drive: We are again collecting school supplies for LSSI during the month of July. A box will be available inside and outside the church to collect the items. You can sign up for specific items at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040D4CACA722A4FF2-school1
We will bless the donations on Sunday, August 1. Thank you for your generosity!
Unplugged Fest: Please join the Lake Zurich community at Paulus Park on August 1 from 11:00-3:00 for an opportunity to participate in an event designed to give people the chance to learn more about and connect to organizations in our area and the activities they offer. This is a free event where families are encouraged to unplug from their electronic devices and connect with each other and have some fun!
Upcoming Blood Drive: please mark your calendars now and plan to donate blood at Peace’s annual blood drive on Sunday, September 12 from 7-1:00. If you are a regular donor please try to schedule your donations so you can participate at this blood drive. If you can’t make it, you can always go to one of Vitalant’s regular centers and give the code LZ 50 when you donate. Remember each donation has the chance to save up to three lives!
Looking to help from home and know how to sew?? We are looking for people to start making school bags (for Lutheran World Relief school kits) that we will use on Mission Projects Day in February 2022. If you can follow a simple pattern, you can do this one. Please let Sue Koenig know if you would like kits dropped off for you to sew (all materials provided-all you need is thread and a sewing machine!)
How to Give Your Offerings
