We pray for one another: We pray for those who need healing, safety and God’s watchful care. This week we pray for Mike Wilms, Kim Wilkinson, Kyle, Jeff Peterson, Maria Lopez, Sara Stroud, Kathryn Roberts, Nancy, Mary Faith, Stefanie Byk, George Kohl, Jack, Dawn, Bonnie Barrington, and Adrianne Goodman
Would you or someone you know like to be added to our weekly prayer list? Email your prayer request to Allison at firstname.lastname@example.org. Are you available to provide meals, lawn mowing or transportation to MD appointments? Reach out to Caring Tree Coordinator Judy at email@example.com.
Fire Pit/Pot Luck 10/16: It was a lot of fun. Food and S'more were had by all!
Wednesday Weeders (a women’s group) meets Wednesdays -- weather permitting -- from 6-7 pm at church to remove weeds and water plants, primarily in the back lawn and labyrinth. BYO weeding tools, kneeling pad, and drink. We hope you'll stay for fellowship at the fire pit from 7-8 pm. Call Beth Piff if you have questions. Thank you for joining us!
Quilting: The quilters will be meeting on Saturday, October 23rd at 9am in the fellowship room. We will be working on a small “quilt as you go” centerpiece or wall hanging. Material list: 5 fabrics: 3 jelly strips, 1 layer cake piece, one ½ yard. Backing ¾ yard. Batting 24” x 24”. But there will be fabric available if you don’t bring any. Anyone is welcome to come. If you have any questions, contact Carol Wojnarowski.
FAITH FORMATION UPDATES
Sunday school classes: are from 9:15-20:15 every Sunday in-person or on Zoom. Thank you to Anne Blaylock and Kelly Ratajczak for taking on the preschool teaching role and to those who have volunteered to be in the classroom as an extra adult. We are starting our new curriculum this weekend and look forward to seeing all our students in class.
Confirmation Fall Retreat: The Fall Retreat will be at Peace on Saturday, October 23 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Come for games, worship, and Bible study as we explore who we are as church, why a Lutheran perspective matters, and what the most important part of our faith is. We will be outside rain or shine. The retreat is only available in person due to the time commitment and the wide variety of content. If you need to miss, please contact Pastor Daniel to work out an alternate assignment.
Food and beverages will be provided. Please consider signing up to bring something to share through the link below:
Learn how to listen for God in our three week series, "The Nature and Practice of Spiritual Reading: Encountering God". We will use Marjorie Thompson's book Soul Feast which is available for purchase on Amazon.
October 24 - Practicum
October 31 - Voices of Peace special presentation - Stan Sanderson on Martin Luther's Music
Women’s Bible Study: We are continuing to read “From Widows to Warriors” by Lynn Japinga. It is a study of 40 women from the Old Testament. It has been very interesting and thought provoking. We meet on Tuesday at 9am in the church coffee room. If you have any questions, contact Carol Wojnarowski. New participants are always welcome.
High School Mission Trip 2022: We are excited to announce that we hope to be going to Milwaukee, Wisconsin from July 24-July 30 for our 2022 mission trip! If you are interested in going on this trip, please RSVP on the sign up genius link below.
Feel free to message Samantha at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions!
Volunteers Needed: Youth Group Meeting 10/24 - Our next youth group meeting on October 24th will be a pumpkin carving contest! I am looking for a few different types of volunteers for this event:
- 1-2 volunteers to participate in the whole event from 4-6pm (Background Checked and proof of vaccination)
- 3 volunteers to arrive around 5:15pm to participate as judges in our contest
Those wishing to volunteer in this capacity (Proof of vaccination required)
Community Garden Help Needed!: The Peace community garden is thriving and looks beautiful! However, our teens need some help with tending the garden: watering, weeding and harvesting (when the plants are ready). Please let Grace Trumbull know if you are interested and available to help!
Operation Warm: Collection ends next Sunday. So far, $280 has been donated. If you would like to help Operation Warm in their efforts to get coats to children in need, please write a check out to Peace and designated Operation Warm in the memo section. The collection will end on Oct. 31 at which time, one check will be sent to Operation Warm with the request to have the money be used for local children. Operation Warm believes a new warm winter coat not only keeps a child warm on the outside but helps their emotional health as well. A $20 donation will provide a new coat for a precious child! Please contact Sue Koenig if you have any questions.
Feed My Starving Children Event: Sign-up ends next Sunday. Our next packing event will be on November 13th from 9-11 at the Libertyville packing site. We have 20 spots reserved. Anyone over the age of 5 can volunteer, however, anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Sign up to volunteer. Please sign up no later than October 31. Any unused spots (at that time) will be turned back in to Feed My Starving Children so others can use them.
