PEACE LUTHERAN WORSHIP AT HOME – Maundy Thursday Observance of Holy Communion April 9
How to prepare for holy communion in your home today:
Decide the time you will observe holy communion in your home. For example, you may want to observe holy communion at the conclusion of your evening meal.
If you are observing Holy Communion with your evening meal:
Before your meal say this or another table prayer:
Come Lord Jesus, be our guest
And let these gifts to us be blessed.
At the conclusion of your evening meal:
After you have cleared the table from your meal, set out the plate with bread, the cup with wine/juice. And follow the steps below while watching the Maundy Thursday video.

Video: Pastor Dale’s welcome
As we prepare for this great gift, let us confess our sins and hear the promise of forgiveness.
Most merciful God,
We confess that we have sinned in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. Forgive us and give us strength to turn from sin and to serve you in newness of life. Amen.
In the mercy of Almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for us, and for his sake, God forgives us all our sins. To those who believe in Jesus Christ he gives the power to become the children of God, and bestows on them the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Video: Read and sing along: When Twilight Comes
When twilight comes and the sun sets, mother hen prepares for night’s rest.
As her brood shelters under her wings, she gives the love of God to her nest.
Oh! What joy to feel her warm heartbeat and be near her all night long;
So the young can find repose, then renew tomorrow’s song.
One day the Rabbi, Lord Jesus, called the twelve to share his last meal.
As the hen tends her young, so for them he spent himself to seek and to heal.
Oh! What joy to be with Christ Jesus, hear his voice,
Oh! Sheer delight, and receive his servant care: all before the coming night.

Video and Sing Along: “Jesu, Jesu, Fill Us with Your Love”
Refrain: Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love, show us how to serve the neighbors we have from you.
Kneels at the feet of his friends, silently washes their feet,
Master who acts as a slave to them. Refrain
Neighbors are wealthy and poor, varied in color and race,
neighbors are nearby and far away. Refrain
These are the ones we will serve, these are the ones we will love;
All these are neighbors to us and you. Refrain
Kneel at the feet of our friends, silently washing their feet:
This is the way we will love with you. Refrain
Video: Holy Communion:
Peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ.
Whenever our congregation gathers for the celebration of Holy Communion, we hear the story of God’s mighty acts and the love shown to us in the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
With thanksgiving we remember that in the night in which he was betrayed, he took bread and gave thanks, broke it and gave it to his disciples saying: “Take and eat, this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” Again after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks and gave it for all to drink, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
With these words we are given assurance of our Lord’s presence through the gift of his Holy Spirit. Now in our homes we take this bread of life and this cup of blessing that we may be strengthened through our participation in the body of Christ.
The peace of the Lord be with you.
Jesus said, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” (John 6:35)
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
forever and ever. Amen.
In a moment you will hear again the melody, “Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love.” While the music is playing, serve one another from the bread and the cup:
TAKE THE BREAD….Each one in your household takes a turn tearing off a piece of bread and serving the person next to them with these words, “the body of Christ, given for you”.
TAKE THE CUP…..After all have received the bread, each one takes a turn serving the one next to them with the cup, saying these words, “the blood of Christ, shed for you”.
IF YOU ARE ALONE:
Take the bread – it is the body of Christ, given for you.
Then take the cup – it is the blood of Christ shed for y ou.

Video: Pastor’s blessing:
The body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ strengthen you and keep you in his grace. Go in peace! Amen!
We give you thanks, almighty God, that you have refreshed us through the healing power of this gift of life. In your mercy, strengthen us through this gift, in faith toward you and in fervent love toward one another; for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
