On Sunday, August 29th from 9-10:30am we will be holding a service with worship, conversation, and a special communion. We will be discussing the work of the strategic planning committee and discerning our direction for the future together. Communion will be celebrated with Moravian Lovefeast buns. Gluten free options are available, and snacks will be provided for anyone who would prefer not to commune. A sign-up genius form will be emailed out soon to RSVP so we know how many buns to order. You can call the church office with any questions, or to RSVP off-line. We are looking forward to this service as we dive into another year of ministry and worship together!

FAITH FORMATION UPDATES
Installation of Samantha Rozema as Youth Director: Join us Sunday, August 8 as we install Samantha Rozema in her new position on staff as Peace’s Youth Director!
Summer Hymn Request: Do you have a favorite hymn that you would like to hear this Summer? Click this link Summer Hymn Request and fill out a quick questionnaire and we will do our best to play your favorite hymn as a prelude or postlude at worship. Just to be clear, this is not a guarantee that we will play the hymn but we will certainly make our best effort! If you or someone you know would like to make a request but aren't comfortable using the link, then no problem. Call the church office and leave a message and we will put your request in for you. We can't wait to hear about your favorite hymns!
THANK YOU from the Vacations Bible School Team! A big thanks to everyone who helped make this summer’s VBS program such a success! All the people who helped transform our church into a wonderful “River of Life” themed environment. The 22 children ages 3 years - 5th grade who participated. The 16 crew leaders 6th - 12th grade who lead the children to each activity. The 10 station leaders who were in charge of special activities : songs, games , bible stories, snacks, registration, etc. Everyday 48 people came together for the glory of God! And when the week was done, an extra special thanks to those who helped clean up and get the church ready again for Sunday’s service. The dedication and enthusiasm from everyone made it a truly wonderful week. Thank you.
Join us Sunday, August 8 for our mini VBS celebration in worship!
Bring your school bag for our backpack blessing on Sunday, August 15!
Adult Forum: We are on break until after Rally Day.
Women’s Bible Study: We are continuing to read “From Widows to Warriors” by Lynn Japinga. It is a study of 40 women from the Old Testament. It has been very interesting and thought provoking. We meet on Tuesday at 9am in the church coffee room. If you have any questions, contact Carol Wojnarowski. New participants are always welcome.
Youth Garden Food Donation: Our teens have been keeping the garden going this summer. This week a 30lb donation of fresh food was made to St. Francis Food Pantry! This brings our total of produce donated up to over 70lbs!!
Community Garden Help Needed!: The Peace community garden is thriving and looks beautiful! However, our teens need some help with tending the garden: watering, weeding and harvesting (when the plants are ready). Please let Grace Trumbull know if you are interested and available to help!
Adult Mission Trip Sending: Join us Sunday, August 8 as we send the adult mission trip participants on their way in blessing!
Clothing Drive 2021: I am working with the Village to host a clothing drive for families in need. I am looking for volunteers to donate new/like new clothing size 0-5. We also need volunteers to help with sorting the clothes and helping during the day of event. This collection/sorting for this event takes place the week of August 23rd (M-F) 10 am-2 pm and the morning of the event, Saturday, August 28th from 8-10 am. The event will be open to the community on Saturday, August 28th from 12-4 pm. Volunteers are needed to help with the collection, sorting, stocking and greeting at the event (and week leading up to) so we are ready to help serve our community members in need. Please note that event details and information will be emailed to all volunteers the week prior to the event. If you have any questions please reach out to me, Cathy Malloy (call/text 847-293-9591 firstname.lastname@example.org) If you want to sign up to volunteer here is the link- https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0548aeac23a6fd0-local
School Supplies Drive: Thank you to all those who donated school supplies for LSSI! If you would still like to donate school supplies, we will continue to take items for the school kits that we put together on our Mission Day. Needed items are: wide-ruled notebooks (70 pages), rulers, pencils, blue/black pens, pink erasers, and pencil sharpeners. Neutral or solid colors are best for all items. All items can be left in the bin at church. Thank you again for your generosity!
Upcoming Blood Drive: Please mark your calendars now and plan to donate blood at Peace’s annual blood drive on Sunday, September 12 from 7-1:00. If you are a regular donor please try to schedule your donations so you can participate at this blood drive. If you can’t make it, you can always go to one of Vitalant’s regular centers and give the code LZ 50 when you donate. Remember each donation has the chance to save up to three lives! You can go on -line now to Vitalant.org to schedule your appointment-just search under the group code LZ50 with an end date in the search of Sept. 30. If you need help, please call Sue Koenig.
Feed My Starving Children Event: Our next packing event will be on November 13 from 9-11 at the Libertyville packing site. We have 20 spots reserved so if you are interested, please contact Sue Koenig as soon as possible to save a spot for you/and or your family! Participants must be at least 5 yrs old to attend and should have an adult with them if they are a young child. This is a great way to get some service hours if you need them!
Looking to help from home and know how to sew?? We are looking for people to start making school bags (for Lutheran World Relief school kits) that we will use on Mission Projects Day in February 2022. If you can follow a simple pattern, you can do this one. Please let Sue Koenig know if you would like kits dropped off for you to sew (all materials provided-all you need is thread and a sewing machine!). There are kits made up in a bin under the coat rack at church. Just a leave a note in the bin if you take some so we can track them down if we have to! They are not due back until the end of December 2021.
