This Sunday
8am service of Holy Communion
9:15am Sunday School / Coffee & refreshments / Middle Schoolers Triple D
10:30am service of Holy Communion Reading for this Sunday (Nov. 10) :  Luke 20:27-38.  “What is heaven like?” asks a child. Grown-ups wonder too.  Lots of questions remain unanswered about heaven and the resurrected life.  In this reading some religious leaders try to trap Jesus with a trick question about the after-life.  Jesus doesn’t fall into their trap. Instead, he satisfies our longings, questions and fears with Good News that in the resurrected life we will be fully alive to God!  As we join together in worship at the Lord’s Table today may you taste and see that the Lord is good!
Welcome Rev. Laura Schordje presiding and preaching today!  For years she has given her gifts of music leadership with congregations in the Chicago area. Then enrolling at Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago she has refined her skills as a music and worship minister.  She loves classic films and cooking, and married with a grown son she still has time to spoil her family’s cat and dog.  We welcome her passion for the Gospel and sharing it with us today.
One Service next week (Nov 17) – 9:00 a.m.  ONE SERVICE along with BRUNCH awaits you together with enlightening CONVERSATION on “What Matters to You?”  Food sign up is on the hallway bulletin board. In preparation for November 17 consider these questions:  When did you join Peace Lutheran church and why?  What keeps you here? What motivates you to join in its ministry and mission?  Then, think of a story you can tell in 2 minutes that best describes what Peace Lutheran Church is like, an experience you recall when this church was really being the church.  Parents – invite children at home to prepare by asking, “when did you first know that Peace Lutheran was YOUR church?” Read 1 Peter 2:1-10.
Nominations for Peace Lutheran Church Call Committee are now being taken. See insert for more information.
The Peace Lutheran Church Transition Team is guiding us through a time of listening and learning to provide key input for the Call Process.  The Team consists of Jean Foltin, Ben Dahlke, Fontaine Cleary, Mark Cleary, Bruce Hodkinson, and Jason Fralish along with Pastor Dale.  We are available to chat with you, responding to your questions, inviting your input as we move into the pastoral call process.
Pastoral Care…. If you are in need of pastoral care while Pastor Dale is away this week (through Thursday), please call Peace office 847-438-4400 for Tracy Katschke, or Pastor Joel Lohafer (847-358-4600), or Pastor Ruth Farrell (847-438-6441).
When you need to connect:   Allison Hearst is church administrator (Tues – Friday 9am-1pm). When you need to get information, or to schedule something on the church calendar, contact Allison at 847-438-4400 or peacelzoffice@yahoo.com
Prayer Requests: We pray for those who need healing and wholeness: for Joyce Smith, Gabriel Salami, Mike Wilms, Kevin Foley, Rob Olsen, Warren Heuck, Anita Brazeau, Giselle Zanotti, Wendy Daily, April Alliston, Judy Foley, Caitlyn Jacobson. We pray for an individual for at least 4 Sunday. After that time, we ask that you contact the office to keep your loved one on the prayer list. If a loved one inadvertently falls off the prayer list, please request to put this person back on the list. Thank you. We need pray-ers! If you would like to be a participant in the Circle of Prayer, please contact Terry Koncel at peaceprays@mail.com
Reading for next Sunday (November 17). In preparation for next Sunday’s ONE SERVICE – BRUNCH – CONVERSATION, consider these questions:  When did you join Peace Lutheran church and why?  What keeps you here? What motivates you to join in its ministry and mission?  Then, think of a story you can tell in 2 minutes that best describes what Peace Lutheran Church is like, an experience you recall when this church was really being the church.  Read 1 Peter 2:1-10.

If you do participate in Simply Giving, or if you do not have an offering on a particular Sunday you can still participate in the act of giving during the service by obtaining Giving Acknowledgment card from an usher and placing it in the offering plate to acknowledge your support of our ministries at Peace.
On-Line Giving: You now have the option to make a gift to Peace from your computer, tablet or phone! To give online go to the Peace web site www.PeaceLutheranLZ.com and click on the "Make a Donation" button. This Sunday
8am service of Holy Communion
9:15am Sunday School / Coffee & refreshments / Middle Schoolers Triple D
10:30am service of Holy Communion Reading for Today (November 3) “Blessed are they…” says Jesus in what we call The Beatitudes.  It may surprise us to find who are singled out here for blessing  – the poor, the hungry, the grieving, and the excluded.  Jesus follows these words of blessing by calling his disciples – including us – to a lifestyle of radical love, concluding with the most basic of all, “do to others as you would have them do to you.”  Please read Luke 6:20-31.
Blessed be their memory: Today in worship we remember those who rest from their labors and are now with the Lord.  Remembering his love for us on our journey, we recall those who have arrived safely at journey’s end.  For their sake and ours we proclaim God’s promise of “the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting.”  We will read their names aloud today in remembrance. This will take place as we prepare for communion in the Great Thanksgiving prayer.
Welcome Pastor Dan Shutters, guest presider and preacher today. Pastor Shutters resides in Lake County while having spent most of his ministry in Pennsylvania.  He is a person with many interests (magic!), hobbies (origami), writings (books), talents (running) and more.  We welcome his sharing some of those with us today!
One Worship Service on Sunday, November 17.  “WHAT MATTERS TO YOU?” Beginning at 9:00 a.m. one service, brunch and enlightening conversation awaits you!  Food sign up is on the hallway bulletin board.
Nominations for Peace Lutheran Church Call Committee are now being taken. See insert for more information.

Ongoing Opportunities
Simply Giving: Many of our members and friends give with Simply Giving automated debit. This program is very important for our congregation. It keeps income steady during the summer months when giving drops because people are out of town. Please consider it! Giving forms are on the table in the narthex.
To give from your phone, download the Give Plus Church app and search for Peace in Lake Zurich to make your gift. Finally, to give from your phone without downloading the “Give Plus Church” app just text a gift to the Peace text number, 224-458-2996. Just enter an amount and send the text to the Peace number and you will be sent a link to complete the transaction. See Kirk Swanson if you have any questions.
Caring Tree: This outreach ministry provides services to those in the congregation with special need, i.e., dinners for new moms, meals for those following a hospitalization, or short term help with lawn cutting or snow removal. For assistance, please contact Jean Foltin by email at jfoltin5@comcast.net  or Pastor Dale.
Altar Flowers: If you have a special date you would like to remember, please consider bringing flowers for our Sunday services. The calendar is on the bulletin board in the hallway. Vases are available for use in the kitchen cabinet behind the door. Flowers should be set out before the first service and can be picked up any time after the second service. Enter your first name on the calendar, as we have several families with the same last name. Any questions, please contact Jean Foltin.
Wednesday Morning Women’s Bible Study: Please join us at Panera Bread in Deer Park at 9:00 AM for faith-based conversation, support, and of course, coffee or tea! This year we will be reading and discussing The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel, a compelling book describing the author’s journey from atheism to faith. In response to his wife’s born again Christian experience, the legal affairs and award winning reporter for the Chicago Tribune initiates a campaign to prove that the resurrection of Jesus Christ never occurred. Instead, he proves the opposite. Questions? Contact Carol Wojnarowski or Jean Foltin.
