Dear Friends in Christ: Join us for something special this Sunday: our Joyful Noisemakers sing the Marty Haugen Children’s Eucharist for our communion setting. The Hand bell Choir will accompany them. Come and hear the word of God and be fed by Jesus in bread and wine. Worship schedule change: Remember we go to one service at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays starting May 26. Adult Education: This is the last session of the Gospel of Luke video series, with discussion led by Pastor Mark. See details below. Reading for this Sunday: Please read John chapter 13 plus the sidebar notes in your Lutheran Study Bible (LSB.) This chapter we go back into the time before Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. This is the gospel lesson we heard on Maundy Thursday evening. It is important for us to consider this theme over and over, because it is one of the most important themes in Christianity: love one another as I have loved you. If you don’t yet have a LSB, see Pastor Mark.
Worship Schedule: The service of Holy Communion is at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Next Sunday, May 26, we start our summer schedule of one service at 9:00 a.m. Reading for Next Week: Please read John chapter 14 and the sidebar notes for this chapter in your Lutheran Study Bible (LSB.) In this chapter Jesus speaks his final discourse to his disciples. He says that it is better for them that Jesus leave them (be glorified,) because then the Holy Spirit (the Advocate) will come to them. If you don’t yet have a LSB, see Pastor Mark. Adult Education: We will conclude this morning the video series on the Gospel of Luke called “Hearing Luke: the Apostolic Gospel.” David Tiede, a scholar of Luke, will be the video presenter. There will be time for discussion afterward with Pastor Mark. This is the Luke year in our worship; that is, almost all of our Gospel passages are from Luke. It is important for us to see the whole picture of Luke, as we work through his Gospel passages this worship year. Come and enjoy! Prayer Requests: We pray for those who need healing and wholeness: for Tod Kunschke, Kristen Jorgensen, Joyce Smith, Greg, Larry, Bob Kayser, Judy Riley, and Anita Brazeau. Our practice is we will pray for an individual for at least 4 Sundays or until the end of the following month. After that time, we ask that you contact the office or Pastor Mark to keep your loved one on the prayer list.
