This is a fundraiser and all free will donations will help fund the Labyrinth clean up and maintenance. It is also a nod to Peace Lutheran’s 35th anniversary. Contact Beth Piff for questions.
Mark your Calendars: Everyone is invited to our May Day Celebration Saturday May 1st from 9am - 4pm. (See attachment) Any questions please contact Beth Piff 847-361-0429 firstname.lastname@example.org

FAITH FORMATION UPDATES
Join your Sunday school friends on April 18, May 2 & 16 from 10:00-10:30 as we focus on the theme of “Get Ready and Wait.” A meeting link will be sent on the Saturday prior to the lesson. Contact Liz or Natalie with any questions. Each Sunday you can access the Children’s bulletin with activities that enable families to worship together and learn from each week’s Scripture theme. You will find them at the end of your Sunday email for worship.
Adult Forum: Adult Forum will resume after Easter with Marjorie J. Thompson’s spiritual masterpiece Soul Feast: An Invitation to the Christian Spiritual Life. Please order the newly revised edition.
Women’s Bible Study: is ready to move on to a new book. We will be reading “From Widows to Warriors” by Lynn Japinga. In this book we will hear about over 40 women from the Old Testament, both the saints and the bad girls. We will dive into what each woman’s story means for us today with questions for reflection and discussion. We will continue to meet on Wednesday Morning at 9 am via zoom thru April. Contact Liz Hopman if you would like to join us. Starting in May, (May 4th), we will meet on Tuesday mornings at 9am at church. We are praying for nice weather so that we can meet outside but if the weather does not cooperate, we will meet inside in the narthex. You can bring your own lawn chair or use a chair from the church. If you have any questions, contact Carol Wojnarowski
HS Mission Trip Change: Last weekend, our Youth families met with our Youth Director, Tracy Katschke, to discuss COVID and traveling for a mission trip this summer. It was decided NOT to go to Boston this year, but instead to put together an at-home mission trip! The new mission trip week is July 19th-23rd, 2021 and Tracy will be putting together daily service opportunities with Northern Illinois Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity; as well as ways to serve within our church and congregation! We will work Monday-Thursday of that week and have a “fun day” on Friday! If you are interested, the cost is $125/teen, with a $25 deposit due to Tracy by May 1st! Chaperones are also needed!
Triple D: Thank you to all the Confirmation/Triple D teens who helped make the April 3rd Easter Egg Hunt a success! We will be meeting again on Sunday, April 18th from 11:30am-12:30pm in the Peace Lutheran parking lot (weather permitting). Please bring your own lawn chair and a shower towel for a game. Get ready for an hour of awesome conversation and lots of fun!
Youth Group: Special thanks also go out to the Peace Lutheran Senior High Youth Group for their awesome help at the Easter Egg Hunt! Our Youth Group will meet again for lunch, discussion and games on Sunday, April 18th from 1pm-2pm in the Peace Lutheran parking lot (weather permitting). Please bring your own lawn chair and a shower towel for a game!
Confirmation Classes: The Peace Lutheran Confirmation class resumed for it’s spring session over Zoom on Wednesday, April 7th, but will be launching something NEW in the coming weeks. Starting Wednesday, April 14th, the Confirmation class will meet in a “hybrid” style. For those who wish to meet in person, class will begin at 6:15pm in the Peace parking lot (please bring your own chair and masks are required). The in-person session will meet from 6:15-7:15pm. From 7-8pm, the virtual session will meet and the hope is that the fifteen minute overlap in classes will allow for a time to check-in and provide community! If the hybrid model does not work, Tracy will look into other options.
Lutheran World Relief needs your help!
More than a year after the start of the pandemic, the needs are still colossal. And our resources to respond are quickly depleting. Too many children, women, men and seniors from Indonesia to India and from Kenya to Peru lack basic protections. And people struggling in poverty, refugees and other marginalized groups are at the greatest risk of not being able to receive a vaccine and getting sick and dying.
Your emergency gift now will help:
Please don't hesitate. The pandemic isn't slowing down and neither can we.
Fight Hunger 5k/10k: Please join my team, "Susie's Solemates" in doing a virtual 5k (3.1 miles) to help raise money for the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Every $1 that is raised can help provide $8 worth of groceries to some of our neighbors in need. The cost is $45 for adults, $25 for children and you will get a t-shirt and medal for participating. If you register by April 4, they will send the t-shirt and medal to you! My team will be doing this event virtually-meaning you can do your 5K whenever and wherever and with whoever you want between 4/10 and 4/17/21. Do it with your family, friends or a few neighbors! Have fun, get some exercise and help raise money for a great local cause. If you have any questions, please contact Sue Koenig. If you would like to donate you can go to the Northern Illinois Food Bank website or to http://secure.qgiv.com/event/fighthunger21.
Feed My Starving Children: Are you looking for a service project that you can do safely with your family? Check out doing a shift at Feed My Starving Children either in Libertyville or Schaumburg. Go to fmsc.org to find a shift that works for you. There are even spots available on Saturdays starting in April. The packing experience has been modified to make it safer. You will be working with only your small group of five people. Volunteers need to be at least 5 yrs old and with an adult. Shifts are 2 hours in length. Do something fun together that will help address hunger around the world!
