JOURNEY FROM ASHES TO EASTER Thursday evenings Beginning this week, March 5, 6:15pm Enjoy soup supper / Brief worship Holden Evening Prayer Sharing “Faith Journeys” by PLC members YOU are helping to end hunger! Thank you! Thank you! The Peace congregation contributed gifts totaling $1,897 (including PPC matching gift) to end hunger, joining hands, hearts, and resources of Lutherans everywhere through the ELCA World Hunger Program “Until All are Fed.” 100% of these gifts support immediate relief, education, advocacy and development efforts. The Peace Lutheran Pastoral Call Committee is made up of Ben Dahlke, Lin Hodkinson, Tim Harris, Liz Hopman, Samantha Rozema, Nicole Thurow, Grace Trumbull. Each member is accessible to the congregation; you can reach the whole team with any correspondence at callcommittee@peacelutheranlz.com . Prayer Request sheets are located right under the Prayer Request box by the church office door. Let us remember to lift up the needs, concerns, and joys of others in our weekly prayers! We pray for one another: We pray for those who need healing and wholeness. This week we pray for Mike Wilms. If you know of someone for whom you would like prayers, make your request known to pastor or complete a prayer request located in the hallway immediately next to the church office door. We care for one another: If you have any special need or know someone who does (e.g. dinner for new moms, meals after hospitalization, short term help like lawn cutting or snow removal) reach out to the Caring Tree by contacting Jean Foltin or Pastor Dale. Prayer for Peace – Thank you for many prayers for Peace written and submitted last Sunday. We offer up these prayers in worship on Sundays in Lent, as well as on Facebook. Follow Peace Lutheran on Facebook to support your journey from Ashes to Easter. This Sunday (March 1) Scripture Reflection: Lent is a season of faith renewal throughout the church as well as here at Peace. We start the season with Jesus 40-days of temptation in the wilderness. At the beginning of his public ministry and through to the end, in all things he remained faithful. Jesus joins us on our journey through trials and temptation to new life. Read Matthew 4:1-11 and join in the journey of faith from Ashes to Easter. Next Sunday (March 8) Scripture Reflection: We are focused these weeks of Lent on sacred scriptures that reveal the heart and goodness of God toward all God’s creation, all people and nations. For next week read John 3:1-17 and find yourself searching with Nicodemus for new life, and be renewed in the Spirit of the One who “so loved the world that he gave his only son.” Adult Education: 9:15am – beginning March 8: “A New Family: Opening the Doors of the Church” Rachel Held Evans was a gift to the church, seeking to channel the heart of God for all peoples. She was a person who reached for the outsider and brought their voice and perspective into the fold. She inspired change and sometimes provoked resistance. Tragically, Rachel died in 2019 at the young age of 37. We will explore some of the many gifts she left behind. Drop in any Sunday or all five (March 8 – April 5) for video and discussion. Her hope – and ours – is to start more conversations than end them. Pick up the monthly PRINTS OF PEACE PLUS to stay informed and connected about ongoing opportunities. You will find this green Prints of Peace supplement on the table in the narthex or at www.PeaceLutheranLZ.com. Youth Gift Card Orders: Our next gift card order will be placed March 1.
