CARE & CONCERN

We pray for one another: We pray for those who need healing, safety and God’s watchful care.  This week we pray for Mike Wilms, Sherri Juveland, Lizetta Moore, Kim Wilkinson, Kyle, Gina Nilsen, Laurie G., Deacon Tracy Katschke, Jeff Peterson, Chris Mitchell, Don Brown, Douglas Brown, William (Hoyt) Brown, Bruce Hodkinson and Brian Madsen.

FELLOWSHIP

Quilting:  We have received numerous thank you notes from people that received the pot holders we sent to Domis Pacis. They were all very appreciative.  Some of the comments were that it reminded them of their grandma, they loved kitchen gadgets, thanks for the kind words, was very heartwarming, would always remember and remind them of their week in the mountains, appreciated our hard work and time to make the potholders.

Domus Pacis (House of peace in Latin) is a non-profit centered on Colorado that serves families facing cancer. It gives them a chance to experience the peace by giving them a mountain getaway.  We are again making pot holders that will go in the welcome baskets that families receive when they arrive at their retreat.  Kits will have all necessary items to make them except thread, easy directions will be included.  We are making a simple pieced heart for the center of each potholder.  If you would like a kit(s), please reach out to Carol or Sue.

Coming up for quilters in this time when we can’t meet in person, we will be working on another mystery quilt.  I don’t have all the details yet but will be contacting everyone who is interested in joining us when the plans are finalized.  Watch for more details in future newsletters and green sheet.

FAITH FORMATION UPDATES

For Families with Children:
Each Sunday you can access the Children’s Bulletin with activities that enable families to worship together and learn from each week’s Scripture theme. You will find them at the end of your Thursday email for worship.

Join your Sunday School friends on January 10 from 10:00-10:30 as we resume our study of the Lord’s Prayer.  Watch your email for a message about picking up materials for those dates.  Future Sunday School lessons will take place on the first and third Sundays of the month with a meeting link sent on the Saturday prior to the lesson. Contact iz (Lhopman@comcast.net) or Natalie (natalie1234@att.net) with any questions.

For adults:
Adult Forum: will resume on January 10th at 10:00. Please come prepared to discuss the rest of the parable of the Good Samaritan.

The Wednesday Morning Women’s Bible Study:  The women’s Bible study is beginning a new book on January 13th titled “Consider the Women” by Debbie Blue.  We will be reading about three matriarchs of the Bible:  Hagar, Esther and Mary.  Read with us as Debbie Blue looks into the background of these women, how they preserved and showed their faith.  We meet via zoom on Wednesday morning at 9 am.  For more information you can contact Carol Wojnarowski.

YOUTH UPDATES

New Year’s Parties:  The Triple D New Years party will be held on Sunday, January 10th from 11:30am-12:30pm and the Senior High Youth Group New Years party will be on Sunday, January 10th from 1-2pm! We will be catching up with some laughs, sharing what everyone did over the holiday break AND, of course, playing New Years themed games via Zoom!

Mission Projects Season: Our traditional Mission Projects Day, held the first Saturday of February, has been renamed Mission Projects Season. We are in the process of making paracord bracelets for Operation Gratitude (for our troops) and if you would like to continue that work, please contact Bill Walstrum.  We have made many cards for children in the hospital but can always use more.  If you would like the supplies, please contact Sue Koenig and the bin will be dropped off for you at your door.  If you would like to make additional health or baby kits for LWR on your own, please do-a supply list and instructions for the kits can be found on the LWR.org website under make kits.

Adult Mission Trip 2021: Currently we are awaiting travel bans to be lifted so we can plan our adult mission trip for this summer, hopefully to a location recovering from a disaster in the midwest.  We are hoping to go in mid-late August when people have had a chance to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.  Please let Sue Koenig know if you are interested or have any questions or concerns.
