Emmaus Evening Prayer
Worship and Dinner
The service will be available on YouTube at 5:00 p.m.
Dinner follows the service.
Emmaus style evening prayer takes its name from a story found in Luke 24:13-35 when the risen Christ travels to Emmaus with two unwitting disciples on the day of his resurrection (Sunday). On the road he opens the scriptures to them, causing their hearts to burn within them, and his true identity is finally revealed to them in the breaking of bread at the evening meal. This service uses the liturgy for Holden Evening Prayer. It is intended to be followed by a meal around the dinner table. Consider making your table special by adding a table cloth, using your most festive dinnerware, and/or lighting a candle. Also consider sharing this meal with someone over the phone, especially if you live alone. Watch your email on Sunday afternoon for the link to the YouTube video, or find it online at www.peacelutheranlz.com.

NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING
The annual meeting to approve the budget is scheduled for Sunday, January 31 after the 9:00 a.m. worship service and will be held virtually over Zoom.
Sign Ministry: The Outreach Team is looking for someone to take over coordinating the outdoor sign ministry for 2021. This involves coming up with messages for the sign and scheduling the volunteers to change the sign message every two weeks or so. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Sue Koenig.
Quilting: The plans for the mystery quilt are complete. We are thinking summer and the quilt (wall hanging size) will sharpen our appliqué skills. If you would like to join us, please contact Carol Wojnarowski at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive the details.

Adult Mission Trip 2021 Update: We have made plans to go to Omaha Nebraska for our adult mission trip this year. The dates are August 15-21, 2021. This area was hit by devastating flooding in March 2019 when there was rapid snow melt followed by significant rainfall that caused the Missouri River to flood and breach a dam. Because of the pandemic, many people are still waiting for assistance to help rebuild their homes. This trip is open to all adults, 18 years old and older. You do not need to have any special construction skills, just a willingness to serve. We will be working with the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance to do our trip safely as we all recover from the covid pandemic. There are only 20 spaces available for our entire group. The cost has not yet been determined but there will be scholarship money available to those who need it. Please let Sue Koenig know if you have any questions or are interested in being a part of this service opportunity.
