Dear Friends in Christ: Sunday: Bring dad for worship at 9:00 and take him out for breakfast afterward! This Sunday we consider Jesus’ parables about the growth of seeds. One little seed can produce a huge plant! Think of loving works this way. Sometimes dads are rewarded with substantial positive outcomes by their children, who report a small deed that their dad had done in bringing up his kids! We all need to be aware of our ability to “sow seeds” of good in this world. Come and hear God’s Word and be fed by Jesus in bread and wine. Adult Forum: On break until September. Reading for this Sunday: Please read 1 Corinthians chapter 5 plus the sidebar notes in your Lutheran Study Bible (LSB.) This is a rich text from the apostle Paul. The tone is shaded by Paul’s suffering and rejection by the authorities and even by other missionaries! Paul talks about himself being an ambassador for Christ, working for the reconciliation of the world to God. How would you feel if you considered yourself an ambassador for God? If you don’t yet have a LSB, see Pastor Mark.
Worship Schedule: Our Summer worship schedule is in effect. We have a service of Holy Communion at 9:00 a.m.
Reading for Next Week: Please read 2 Corinthians chapter 6 plus the sidebar notes for this chapter in your Lutheran Study Bible (LSB.) This chapter speaks of the suffering that the apostle Paul has been experiencing - suffering that makes him a reliable messenger of the gospel (good news.) On the part about not marrying unbelievers, see a different opinion of Paul in 1 Corinthians 7:12-15. If you don’t yet have a LSB, see Pastor Mark.
Attendance: On June 10, 2018, 77 attended worship. On June 13, 2018, there was no service at Lexington.
Green Sheet Entries: With the mission trip coming up, please submit your green sheet items by Wednesday, June 20th. Both Pastor Mark and Allison Hearst will be on the mission trip.

Youth Group Water Balloon Battle: Our water balloon battle with the youth groups from St. Peter UCC and Peace Lutheran had to be rescheduled on May 20th due to inclement weather. We will try again on Sunday, June 24th from 4:30-6pm at Christ Lutheran (41 S. Rohlwing Rd in Palatine). Everyone is welcome to attend and bring friends! Please have your teen come hungry since we will have pizza and wear something that they don't mind getting soaked!

Donations are always welcome, but for this need we would like to shower the Food Pantry by July 16th. Please put items in the bin in the hallway. Thank you so much for helping the local people in the Ela Township Community.
Preparation for mission projects day 2019: if you can help with cutting tabs in fleece for the Lutheran world relief or project Linus blankets, sewing pillow covers for hospice or making school bags for Lutheran world relief, check out the kits in the hallway by the office. Work on them when you have a chance; they don’t need to be completed until December! If you have any questions, please contact Sue Koenig. Thank you for your help!
In Crisis? Anyone, anywhere can be affected by a mental health struggle including depression, anxiety, having feelings of being overwhelmed, or having suicidal thoughts. It has been in the news lately about the significant increase (up nearly 30%) in the annual rate of suicide from 1999-2016. The key to preventing people from reaching the point of suicide is to talk about it and offer help, encouragement and resources to those struggling to keep living. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is 1-800-273-8255 and the crisis text line is text CONNECT to 741741 for people who are in distress and feel like they are at risk for hurting themselves; or if you know of a person who is at risk.
