FAITH FORMATION UPDATES
Summer Hymn Request: Do you have a favorite hymn that you would like to hear this Summer? Click this link Summer Hymn Request and fill out a quick questionnaire and we will do our best to play your favorite hymn as a prelude or postlude at worship. Just to be clear, this is not a guarantee that we will play the hymn but we will certainly make our best effort! If you or someone you know would like to make a request but aren't comfortable using the link, then no problem. Call the church office and leave a message and we will put your request in for you. We can't wait to hear about your favorite hymns!
Wanted: Assisting Ministers
Hello! With services ramping back up for summer, we are reaching out as we have many positions that need filling to make our service come alive each week. We are happy to arrange for a training or shadowing of any of these roles to get you comfortable with the position as well. We currently have needs for:
Assisting Minister (Outdoor, indoor or virtual)
Readers (Outdoor, indoor or virtual)
Combo (Assisting Minister is the reader as well that week)
Ushers (Outdoor, indoor or both)
Communion Setup/Cleanup (Outdoor, indoor or both)
Virtual Usher (virtual only)
Outdoor service and equipment setup/cleanup (Outdoor only)
Many of these roles have a very minimal number of members serving in them so any and all help is much needed at this time! If you have any questions about any of these roles or would like to help out, please reach out to Samantha and Lisa at firstname.lastname@example.org

Adult Forum: We are on break until Rally Day.
Women’s Bible Study: We are reading “From Widows to Warriors” by Lynn Japinga. In this book we will hear about over 40 women from the Old Testament, both the saints and the bad girls. We will dive into what each woman’s story means for us today with questions for reflection and discussion. We will meet on Tuesday mornings at 9am at church. We are praying for nice weather so that we can meet outside but if the weather does not cooperate, we will meet inside in the narthex. You can bring your own lawn chair or use a chair from the church. If you have any questions, contact Carol Wojnarowski.
Youth Director Vacation: Tracy will be out of the office from Monday, June 14th-Sunday, June 20th. She will not be available via email, phone or text during this time. If your need is urgent, please contact the Church Office at 847-438-4400.
HS Mission Trip Change: Earlier this year, our Youth families met with our Youth Director, Tracy Katschke, to discuss COVID and traveling for a mission trip this summer. It was decided NOT to go to Boston this year, but instead to put together an at-home mission trip! The new mission trip week is July 19th-23rd, 2021 and Tracy will be putting together daily service opportunities with Northern Illinois Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity; as well as ways to serve within our church and congregation! We will work Monday-Thursday of that week and have a “fun day” on Friday! If you are interested, the cost is $125/teen, with a $25 deposit due to Tracy by June 15th! Chaperones are also needed!
Triple D: Our next Triple D gathering will be held THIS Sunday, June 6th from 10:30am-11:30am in the Peace parking lot! **Please note the time change!!** Since going to Dunkin’ Donuts was not well received, Tracy will instead bring individually wrapped donuts on Sunday! Please bring your own chair, beverage and mask. All are welcome for an hour of conversation, laughter and fun!
HS Graduation Celebration: The Peace Lutheran congregation has THREE high school graduates this year: Bradley Dice, Liam Haynes & Mickey Holub. THIS Sunday, June 6th at 9am, we will be celebrating Bradley, Liam and Mickey with a blessing during worship, as well as a cupcake celebration (individually wrapped Small Cakes cupcakes) afterwards! All are welcome to join us as we honor Bradley, Liam and Mickey’s accomplishment and wish them well!
Mission Trip Update: We have a small group of volunteers going to Omaha Nebraska, August 15-21. We will be helping rebuild the community from a devastating flood in 2019. We have one space left for any adult over 18 yrs. old. You don't need any special skills to participate, just a flexible attitude and willingness to serve! The cost is $200. Please contact Sue Koenig if you would like this spot!
Looking to help from home and know how to sew?? We are looking for people to start making school bags (for Lutheran World Relief school kits) that we will use on Mission Projects Day in February 2022. If you can follow a simple pattern, you can do this one. Please let Sue Koenig know if you would like kits dropped off for you to sew (all materials provided-all you need is thread and a sewing machine!)
Feed My Starving Children Event: We have 10 spots reserved at Feed My Starving Children in Libertyville for 9-11am, on July 17, at the Libertyville packing facility. Volunteers must be at least 5 years old with a parent and all people will be expected to wear a mask. Groups of 5 will work together and will be socially distanced from other groups. Please contact Sue Koenig if you would like one of these spots or if you have any questions.
Upcoming Blood Drive: please mark your calendars now and plan to donate blood at Peace’s annual blood drive on Sunday, September 12 from 7-1:00. If you are a regular donor please try to schedule your donations so you can participate at this blood drive. If you can’t make it, you can always go to one of Vitalant’s regular centers and give the code LZ 50 when you donate. Remember each donation has the chance to save up to three lives!
