FAITH FORMATION UPDATES

For Families with Children:

Join your Sunday School friends on March 28 at a special time of 10:30-11:00 as we explore the Easter story with an All-Together activity.  A meeting link will be sent on the Saturday prior to each lesson.  Contact Liz (Lhopman@comcast.net) or Natalie (natalie1234@att.net) with any questions.  Each Sunday you can access the Children’s Bulletin with activities that enable families to worship together and learn from each week’s Scripture theme.  You will find them at the end of your Sunday email for worship.
Easter Egg Hunt!!: All families with children 5th grade and younger are invited to our Youth-led Easter Egg Hunt, which will take place at Peace on Saturday, April 3rd from 10am-12pm! Our Confirmation and Senior High Youth Group will be putting together this amazing event with a socially distanced Easter Egg Hunt - complete with “clues” to find eggs - prizes and crafts! The Easter Bunny may even make an appearance! Sunday School Families: please sign up via the following Sign-Up Genius link to RSVP that you are coming (the teens need to know how many eggs to hide!): https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090E4DAEAB2AA5FC1-easter

YOUTH UPDATES

HS Mission Trip Change: Last weekend, our Youth families met with our Youth Director, Tracy Katschke, to discuss COVID and traveling for a mission trip this summer. It was decided NOT to go to Boston this year, but instead to put together an at-home mission trip! The new mission trip week is July 19th-23rd, 2021 and Tracy will be putting together daily service opportunities with Northern Illinois Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity; as well as ways to serve within our church and congregation! We will work Monday-Thursday of that week and have a “fun day” on Friday! If you are interested, the cost is $125/teen, with a $25 deposit due to Tracy by April 15th! Chaperones are also needed!

YOUTH DIRECTOR VACATION: Tracy will be out of the office starting the afternoon of Wednesday, March 17th and will not be returning until Monday, March 22nd. She will not have access to phone or email during this time. If your need is urgent, please contact the Church Office at 847-438-4400.

Triple D & Youth Group: We will be meeting on select days during the week of March 28th to prep for the Easter Egg Hunt - stay tuned for dates and times from Tracy!

OUTREACH

Easter baskets update:  We made 48 Easter Baskets! Thank you to the 3 families who help assemble Easter baskets on March 20th.  The children at LSSI will be so happy to get this little treat from Peace! Thank you to Thrivent for funding this project through their Action Team opportunity.

Fight Hunger 5k/10k: Please join my team, "Susie's Solemates" in doing a virtual 5k (3.1 miles) to help raise money for the Northern Illinois Food Bank.  Every $1 that is raised can help provide $8 worth of groceries to some of our neighbors in need.  The cost is $45 for adults, $25 for children and you will get a t-shirt and medal for participating.  If you register by April 4, they will send the t-shirt and medal to you! My team will be doing this event virtually-meaning you can do your 5K  whenever and wherever and with whoever you want between 4/10 and 4/17/21.  Do it with your family, friends or a few neighbors! Have fun, get some exercise and help raise money for a great local cause.  If you have any questions, please contact Sue Koenig. If you would like to donate you can go to the Northern Illinois Food Bank website or to http://secure.qgiv.com/event/fighthunger21.

Feed My Starving Children: Are you looking for a service project that you can do safely with your family? Check out doing a shift at Feed My Starving Children either in Libertyville or Schaumburg.  Go to fmsc.org to find a shift that works for you.  There are even spots available on Saturdays starting in April.  The packing experience has been modified to make it safer.  You will be working with only your small group of five people.  Volunteers need to be at least 5 yrs old and with an adult.  Shifts are 2 hours in length.  Do something fun together that will help address hunger around the world!

How to Give Your Offerings
Thank you!  Thank you as you continue your generous contributions to the virtual offering plate we pass.  Congregation members are using these methods:  Mailing their check to church / Using their own bank website “send-payment” feature / Going to www.peacelutheranlz.com and clicking on “make a donation” / or, downloading and using the app we recommend: https://www.vancopayments.com/egiving/church-app
