Dear Friends in Christ: Please celebrate Mother’s Day by coming with mom to worship this Sunday! This is Good Shepherd Sunday, when out gospel lesson considers our sheep/shepherd relationship with our God in Jesus Christ. Come and hear the word of God and be fed by Jesus in bread and wine. Adult Education: We are studying the Gospel of Luke through a video series, with discussion led by Pastor Mark. See details below. Reading for this Sunday: Please read John chapter 10 plus the sidebar notes in your Lutheran Study Bible (LSB.) This chapter presents “Jesus, the Good Shepherd.” The sheep hear the voice of the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. Please notice the chart on page 1773 that describes Jesus’ “I AM” sayings. Remember that “I AM” (Yahweh in Hebrew) is the name for God in the Old Testament. If you don’t yet have a LSB, see Pastor Mark.
Worship Schedule: The service of Holy Communion is at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Reading for Next Week: Please read John chapter 13 and the sidebar notes for this chapter in your Lutheran Study Bible (LSB.) In this chapter we go back into the time before Jesus’ crucifixion. This is the gospel lesson we heard on Maundy Thursday. It is important for us to consider this theme again, because it is one of the most important themes in Christianity: Jesus calling his disciples to “love one another as I have loved you.” If you don’t yet have a LSB, see Pastor Mark.
Adult Education: We are continuing a video series on the Gospel of Luke called “Hearing Luke: the Apostolic Gospel.” David Tiede, a scholar of Luke, will be the video presenter. There will be time for discussion afterward with Pastor Mark. This is the Luke year in our worship; that is, almost all of our Gospel passages are from Luke. It is important for us to see the whole picture of Luke, as we work through his Gospel passages this worship year. Come and enjoy!
Church Administrator: Allison Hearst is our church administrator. She works Tuesday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. One of the many things Allison is in charge of is the church calendar. She can be reached at 847-438-4400 or firstname.lastname@example.org

Prayer Requests: We pray for those who need healing and wholeness: for Jackie Hearst, Tod Kunschke, Kristen Jorgensen, Joyce Smith, Greg, Larry, Bob Kayser, Judy Riley, and Anita Brazeau. Our practice is we will pray for an individual for at least 4 Sundays or until the end of the following month. After that time, we ask that you contact the office or Pastor Mark to keep your loved one on the prayer list. If a loved one inadvertently falls off the prayer list, please request to put this person back on the list. Thank you. We need pray-ers! If you would like to be a participant in the Circle of Prayer, please contact Terry Koncel at email@example.com.
Pictorial Directory Update: Thanks to all who participated in updating our Pictorial Directory by either having pictures taken April 5th & 6th or by submitting a picture. As you may recall, we were striving to have 60 individuals and families participate. We beat that goal by two individuals/families which will help us deliver a directory that has more complete member representation! Our new print directory is anticipated to be ready for distribution in 4-6 weeks and soon after, an on-line version will be available. On behalf of the Pictorial Directory committee, thanks much!

If you can't physically do the walk or run but would like to participate, we are also fund raising for this cause. This run supports first responders and the military who have made extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty. Some of the ways that this event helps are building homes for disabled veterans and providing mortgage free homes to surviving spouses of veterans/first responders with young children. The cost to participate in this event is $30. Please contact Sue Koenig if you would like to participate or sign up atT2Trun.org.
Hospice Kit Assembly: Global Health Ministries (the organization we make rolled bandages for on Mission Project Day) has provided us with a grant to make hospice kits. Please help us put these kits together after the service on July 21st. Add your name to the sign-up sheet in the hallway. Questions? Contact Sue Koenig.
Simply Giving: Many of our members and friends give with Simply Giving automated debit. This program is very important for our congregation. It keeps income steady during the summer months when giving drops because people are out of town. Please consider it! Giving forms are on the table in the narthex. If you do participate in Simply Giving, or if you do not have an offering on a particular Sunday you can still participate in the act of giving during the service by obtaining Giving Acknowledgment card from an usher and placing it in the offering plate to acknowledge your support of our ministries at Peace.

To give online go to the Peace web site www.PeaceLutheranLZ.com and click on the "Make a Donation" button. To give from your phone, download the Give Plus Church app and search for Peace in Lake Zurich to make your gift.
