Fire Pit/Pot Luck 10/16: Join us Saturday, October 16th from 4:30 - 6:30pm for a pot luck outdoors and around the fire pit! There is no theme so feel free to bring your favorite main courses, side dishes and desserts. Alternatively, bring a meal or snacks for your family only. Please do whichever your family finds most comfortable. Graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows for s'mores will be provided. This event is BYOB approved for beer and wine as well. Wednesday Weeders (a women’s group) meets Wednesdays -- weather permitting -- from 6-7 pm at church to remove weeds and water plants, primarily in the back lawn and labyrinth. BYO weeding tools, kneeling pad, and drink. We hope you'll stay for fellowship at the fire pit from 7-8 pm. Call Beth Piff if you have questions. Thank you for joining us!
Quilting: The quilters will be meeting on Saturday, October 23rd at 9am in the fellowship room. We will be working on a small “quilt as you go” centerpiece or wall hanging. Material list: 5 fabrics: 3 jelly strips, 1 layer cake piece, one ½ yard. Backing ¾ yard. Batting 24” x 24”. But there will be fabric available if you don’t bring any. Anyone is welcome to come. FAITH FORMATION UPDATES
Sunday school classes: are from 9:15-20:15 every Sunday in-person or on Zoom. Thank you to Anne Blaylock and Kelly Ratajczak for taking on the preschool teaching role and to those who have volunteered to be in the classroom as an extra adult. We are starting our new curriculum this weekend and look forward to seeing all our students in class.
Confirmation Fall Retreat: The Fall Retreat will be at Peace on Saturday, October 23 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Come for games, worship, and Bible study as we explore who we are as church, why a Lutheran perspective matters, and what the most important part of our faith is. We will be outside rain or shine. The retreat is only available in person due to the time commitment and the wide variety of content. If you need to miss, please contact Pastor Daniel to work out an alternate assignment.
Food and beverages will be provided. Please consider signing up to bring something to share through the link below:

Volunteers Needed: Youth Group Meeting 10/24 - Our next youth group meeting on October 24th will be a pumpkin carving contest! I am looking for a few different types of volunteers for this event:
- 1-2 volunteers to participate in the whole event from 4-6pm (Background Checked and proof of vaccination)
- 3 volunteers to arrive around 5:15pm to participate as judges in our contest
Those wishing to volunteer in this capacity (Proof of vaccination required)
Community Garden Help Needed!: The Peace community garden is thriving and looks beautiful! However, our teens need some help with tending the garden: watering, weeding and harvesting (when the plants are ready). Please let Grace Trumbull know if you are interested and available to help!
Operation Warm: For several years now, Peace has been supporting Operation Warm in the Lake Zurich area which works with non-profits in the area to supply new winter coats for children in need. Due to some organizational changes, this year our efforts will be to raise funds that will be designated to help children in our community that need coats. For the month of October, we will be doing just that! If you would like to help Operation Warm in their efforts to get coats to children in need, please write a check out to Peace and designated Operation Warm in the memo section. The collection will end on Oct. 31 at which time, one check will be sent to Operation Warm with the request to have the money be used for local children.Operation Warm believes a new warm winter coat not only keeps a child warm on the outside but helps their emotional health as well. A $20 donation will provide a new coat for a precious child! Please contact Sue Koenig if you have any questions.
Help out Joanie’s Closet: Joanie's Closet is a local organization that helps students and their families in District 95. They are having a Snow boot/snow pant Drive Oct. 18-29th. New or gently used items can be dropped off at the Administration Building vestibule (formerly the old Sears building in Lake Zurich by Walmart). Sizes for elementary students are the most needed sizes (i.e. snow pants 5T to kids medium size, and snow boots (little kids size 10-big kid 5). Thanks for helping out!
Can you sew??: Requests have come in from two nonprofits for some sewing projects they would like completed for the people they serve. The first is for Journey Care Hospice. They have requested clothing protectors (i.e. adult bibs). The second is Domus Pacis, a nonprofit that provides respite retreats for families facing cancer. They have requested quilted potholders that go in their welcome baskets for the families. Kits will be available mid-October for both projects. We would like to have both their requests met by the end of the year. If you can help sew and would like a packet of kits, please contact Sue Koenig and let her know which project you would like to work on and how many kits you would like and she will get them to you.. Thank you for your help!
Blood Donations: In the last few weeks, many blood collection centers have seen a sharp decrease in donations and this has led to a critically low blood supply. Please consider donating whenever you are eligible. You can make an appointment at any Vitalant or Versati Blood Donation center. Please see their websites for more information or to find a local blood drive. If you donate at a Vitalant Center, please use the group code LZ50 so Peace will get credit for your donation. Thank you for making a difference in our community!
Feed My Starving Children Event: Our next packing event will be on November 13th from 9-11 at the Libertyville packing site. We have 20 spots reserved. Anyone over the age of 5 can volunteer, however, anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Sign up to volunteer at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040D4CACA722A4FF2-feed. Please sign up no later than October 31. Any unused spots (at that time) will be turned back in to Feed My Starving Children so others can use them.
